Count values in list until they equal another list value

    Hi all,

    A quick one I hope...

I have a list of cashflows all in col A starting in row 3 as follows:

    160000

    160000

    160000

    160000

    160000

    240000

    240000

    240000

    240000

    In A1 i have a value of 1150000

I need to put into A2 the number of months it will take for the cashflows below (A3:A11) to reach the value in A1 to 2 decimal places.

    Any idea?

    Thanks in advance

You say that you want to show the answer to 2 decimal places - I am at a loss to understand why this would be useful unless your cashflow was an equal amount every day. - Would it not make more sense to say that you would reach your target between months 5 and 6 for example?

I ain't making the rules...  Not sure how relevant that is to the formula though?

Basically then need to know it is more than 5 months but not 6.  My understanding is that it give a an understanding of how to agree new cash flows when.

The attached does what you ask. I have no doubt that someone like Bob Phillips would be able to improve on this without any trouble.

Thanks - but not quite what I need. A little too chunky...

effectively need to know that it is 6 and a bit more cashflows until break even.

    Bob any ideas?
